EU will increase engine emission standards from January 2011

In January 2011, the European Commission implemented Stage IIIB emission standards for diesel engines with non-road mechanical power ranging from 130 to 560 kW.

The EU IIIB phase emission standard limits the emission particulates of the engine from 0.2 g/kWh to 0.025 g/kWh. To achieve this standard, diesel engines must be equipped with particulate filters. According to industry analysts, since domestic engines do not yet meet export standards, Chinese construction machinery companies need to purchase foreign brands. The continuous improvement of foreign emission standards will further increase the cost of procurement, which will weaken the export competitiveness of China's construction machinery products.
