Saudi Construction Market Finds Opportunities for Major Construction Machinery

Although Saudi Arabia has the world’s largest oil reserves, the bigger “Dadan” also has a day to sit back and eat. For this reason, the Saudi government is interested in the future of future generations and wants to promote economic diversification and vigorously develop the non-oil industry. Under this policy orientation, a large number of public infrastructure and industrial facilities have been launched. In 2013, the total amount of Saudi projects will reach US$600 billion.

In the first quarter of 2013, the total amount of Saudi engineering contract was US$13 billion. Among them, the amount of social infrastructure projects such as hospitals, residences, schools, etc., is approximately US$7.5 billion, and that of oil and gas and petrochemical projects is US$2 billion. In the same period of 2012, the contracted project was issued at a value of US$14 billion, which was a year-on-year drop, but it still reflects the continuation of government investment. Saudi Arabia’s decision to expand the capital airport Khalid King International Airport to a large scale will expand from the current 12 million to 35 million. This project includes the construction of a new terminal (ie Terminal 5), and Terminal 4 will also be expanded and refurbished.

Looking at the various constructions in Saudi Arabia, all involved with the construction machinery. At the same time, it also shows that Saudi Arabia will need a large number of construction machinery and equipment. In addition to its own national machinery and equipment needs, it will inevitably require certain imported equipment. This is undoubtedly an invaluable opportunity for China, a major producer of machinery and equipment. If this opportunity is seized, it will be a further step away from China’s construction machinery stationed in the West Asia region.
