Dalian is one of the first demonstration cities for new energy vehicles in China. Dalian New Energy Automobile Application Center is one of the carriers for the demonstration and operation of new energy vehicles in Dalian. There are 25 such organizations in China, but Dalian is the first to use actual passenger transport as the inspection method.

Relatively low cost of use

Dalian New Energy Automotive Application Center was completed in June 2009 and was built by Dalian Sail Transportation Group. In 2008, Anhui Ankai Bus Company provided 10 pure electric buses for conference vehicles for the Dalian Davos Conference. After the meeting in Davos, the 10 passenger cars became the "Dalian-Lvshun" short-distance passenger line for new energy applications.

In terms of the cost of use, it consumes only about 1.4 kWh per kilometer and the cost of use is one-eighth of that of a similar conventional vehicle. In particular, there is no maintenance cost for conventional automobile wearing parts such as engines and filters, and thus the use cost is relatively low.

In actual operation, many problems have also been found, especially battery issues. In addition, although the auto company claims that the maximum number of single-trip kilometers can reach 200 or even 300 kilometers, the actual operation shows that a single trip mileage of more than half of the maximum kilometers will cause damage to the battery. Take Ankai pure electric bus as an example, although the maximum single-mile mileage can reach more than 250 kilometers, if the battery is full and the battery is exhausted every time, the battery life will be damaged.

Battery problems need to be solved

"When the battery is discharged to 50%, it must be recharged to protect the performance of the battery and the car. It cannot be charged for 130 to 180 kilometers before charging." Yan Jun said that if the battery power consumption is frequently depleted to more than 70%, then Car batteries may be completely scrapped in 3 to 5 years.

In the center of the application center, a pure electric bus driver told reporters that he cannot drive a pure electric bus in the habit of driving a traditional automatic car. "When you go uphill, you have to pull a handbrake. When the motor reaches a certain speed, the car will go forward, otherwise it will slip."

He said that the forward and backward movement of the electric vehicle is accomplished by rotating the motor in the forward and reverse directions. If it cannot reach a certain speed, it lacks the forward driving force that is available after the automatic transmission has been engaged.

It is worth mentioning that the business model of charging pure electric vehicles in the form of charging stations is also challenged. The above driver stated that the pure electric passenger car could not be recharged when it had just turned off. "The battery temperature is high at this time and it cannot be recharged immediately. Otherwise, there will be danger. The car must be left cold."

Yan Jun said that after the battery has been running for a period of time, it must have an intermittent charge, which he will call "safety time." As a result, the time for the electric vehicle to recharge is extended, plus it takes 15 to 30 minutes for the battery to be charged in the fast charge mode. The convenience of the electric vehicle cannot be compared with that of the conventional car.

From the operation of Dalian New Energy Automotive Application Center in the past year, it was found that when the temperature is too hot, the battery failure rate is relatively high and the power output is unstable. How to ensure the stability of electric vehicles is still a "very important and very difficult" problem.
