Renishaw's new NC4 laser tool-aligning probes greatly enrich the variety of non-contact laser tool setting systems. The NC4 tool setting system features ultra-small laser transmitters and receivers with a specification of only 30mm (diameter) x 35mm (height) for fast non-contact tool and tool breakage detection where it was previously unusable, and is also ideal for Installed when the equipment is modified.

The NC4 system enables high repeatability tool setting operations up to 5 meters apart. Depending on the spacing, tools with diameters as small as 0.2 mm can be measured at any selected point of the laser beam and damage can be detected for tools as small as 0.1 mm.

The housing of the NC4 laser tool probe is sturdy stainless steel and is packaged in IPX8 to accommodate extremely harsh machine environments. The MicroHol protection system uses continuous compressed airflow to provide uninterrupted protection from metal debris, coolant and graphite, even during measurement. In the event of a gas supply failure, an innovative fail-safe seal prevents contamination and IPX8 seal protection standards.

With the addition of a range of features, the installation and setup of the NC4 system is simple. The structure of the split system is very simple, with only one transmitter and receiver. Simply replace the transmitter and receiver unit with a replaceable unit to accommodate the distance of the separate system. Since there is no need to identify the laser focus, the system settings are also very simple. A new visual LED is installed on top of the transmitter unit to display the system's operating status in real time.

The NC4 tool setting has a fixed system and a separate system: the fixed system is 300mm apart and the separate system is 5m apart.
