From August 12th to 13th in Mianzhu County, Sichuan Province, heavy rains caused heavy rains in Qingping Township, causing mudslides. The only road leading to Hanwang Town was blocked and thousands of people were affected. Qingping Township became an isolated “island of life” overnight, and 102 people under construction were trapped in the tunnel of the Mianmao Expressway. The dammed lakes caused by the massive mudslides endanger the lives of trapped people.

After the disaster took place, the leaders of the Chengdu Military Region promptly asked the relevant troops to prepare and go all out to rescue. Huang Yi, deputy chief of staff of the Chengdu Military Region, led the disaster relief command team of the military region and rushed to the front line of the disaster area.

At 11:50 on the 13th, the first batch of two helicopters of the "Agrarian Rescue Heroes Airborne Group" were rushed to the disaster area under the leadership of the first-level pilot and deputy head Zhou Shaozhong.

“Because Qingping Township’s external roads are disrupted, it is difficult to get through in the short term. The transportation of rescue workers and materials, the transport of wounded and sick people in the disaster area and the masses' transfer and placement can only rely on helicopters for air transport,” said Huang Yi.

On the 13th of the entire day, the Chengdu Military Region dispatched 52 helicopters in a row, transported 15 people, rescued 30 people trapped in the rescue, and transported more than 500 rescue workers and trapped people.

Today, the Chengdu Military Region dispatched eight helicopters once again and was fully loaded with rescue personnel and supplies to enter the disaster area.

The officers and soldiers of the Water Rescue Division of a reserve service group in Sichuan province immediately sent helicopters and sent an advance team to carry rescue equipment to the Xiaoshou Village of Xiaogangjian Village in Qingping Township to search for and rescue the people who might be trapped there.

After the officers and men of a certain division of the Sichuan Military Command received advance orders from Xiaogang Jiancun, an “independent island of life,” the rescue squad detachment took assault boats, climbed ropes, and shovels and other rescue tools. They climbed the mountains and walked to Xiaogangjian Village on foot. The risk of recurrence of mudslides, collapse of mountains, etc., was compounded by hands and feet and marched on the cliffs of muddy cliffs.

Just 5 kilometers away, they walked more than 5 hours. At 13:20, the assault squadron arrived in Xiaogang Jiancun. Too late, everyone immediately put into a tense rescue operation, search, rescue, transfer... Every time a trapped person is seen, everyone takes the initiative to hand over life-saving supplies such as compressed biscuits and mineral water.

A special rescue team specially dispatched by the Chengdu Military Region arrived. All 17 players have undergone rigorous training and are ready to perform emergency rescue missions in a special way by helicopter.

Although the number of medical staff of the Military Advance Division of the Chengdu Military Region General Hospital is small, it has rich experience in emergency treatment. The nurse head Xu Zhaoxia was honored as a “National Model of Earthquake Disaster Relief” in Wenchuan Earthquake Disaster Relief. They soon opened up field medical clinics where the affected people gathered.

Seeing the officers and soldiers of the troops coming to the rescue, the trapped people saw the hope of life. Many people had tears in their eyes. Wang Baoshui, a 76-year-old villager from the roof back to the safety zone, wiped his eyes and said with tears, "I thought that he and everyone had not been saved, and that the people's Liberation Army gave us a second life!"

As of press time, rescue workers have successfully searched and rescued 9 people and safely transferred more than 30 people. Luo Jian, a deyang army division commander who has been on-site command for more than 10 hours in a row, told reporters: “At present, we have mobilized more than 150 militiamen in Qingping Township to provide disaster relief and have sent people to assist local governments in the vicinity. The sites that are likely to have geological disasters will be monitored around the clock to prevent secondary disasters."

It is reported that nearly 200 soldiers and soldiers from the Chengdu Military Region have entered the disaster-affected area of ​​Qingping Township. But not far away from the mountains, the helicopter has only a 10-minute flight to the town of Hanwang and more troops are starting to rescue.
